A European Initiative to Meet Growing Financing Needs

"The demand for financing in the European defense sector has risen sharply in response to the evolving geopolitical context. As a major European bank, ING aims to support industry players responsibly, contributing to the continent’s sovereignty and resilience.

To ensure that all supported projects and companies align with its principles, the group has established a Defence Engagement Committee. This committee conducts an in-depth analysis of each case, strictly adhering to the bank’s standards—including the exclusion of direct financing for controversial weaponry, rigorous selection of eligible companies, and compliance with international regulations and agreements."

"ING will leverage its strong pan-European presence—particularly in Poland, Germany, Italy, and Eastern Europe—as well as its recognized expertise in export credits and leveraged finance, to structure the development of this new hub.

This Defense Hub will be led from Paris by Olivier Pellisson.

An EDHEC graduate, Olivier Pellisson has over 20 years of experience in investment banking and corporate finance. He joined ING in 2017 and currently serves as Head of Corporate Sector Coverage in France. In his new role, he will also oversee the group’s activities in the defense sector, working closely with international teams. “I am honored by the trust ING has placed in me through this appointment,” said Olivier Pellisson. “This new responsibility is a natural extension of my current role in France. I am excited to work with our European teams to build a coherent, responsible, and ambitious approach in such a strategic sector as defense.”
